Window tinting is the process of applying a thin, multi-layered polyester film to the interior surface of a vehicle’s windows. This film is designed to enhance the glass’s performance by blocking specific types of light and heat.

At Shade Delux, we use professional-grade materials directly from 3M to ensure these films provide more than just a darker look.

How It Works

The film acts as a protective barrier for your car’s interior. High-quality window tints are engineered with different technologies—such as carbon or ceramic particles—to manage solar energy in three main ways:

  • Heat Rejection: It blocks Infrared (IR) rays, which are responsible for the “burning” heat you feel on your skin and the buildup of heat inside a parked car.
  • UV Protection: Quality films block up to 99% of harmful Ultraviolet (UV) rays. This protects your skin from sun damage and prevents your dashboard and leather seats from fading or cracking.
  • Glare Reduction: By filtering visible light, tinting reduces the blinding glare from the sun during the day and from headlights at night, making driving much safer.

Why Quality Matters

While cheap tints are often just “dyed” plastic that turns purple or bubbles over time, the 3M films we use at Shade Delux are color-stable and designed for optical clarity. This means you get a clear view of the road with all the benefits of heat and UV protection.

Common Benefits

  1. Privacy: Deters “prying eyes” from seeing valuables inside your vehicle.
  2. Safety: In the event of an accident, the film helps hold shattered glass together.
  3. Fuel Efficiency: A cooler cabin means you don’t have to run your AC as hard, saving on fuel.
